we're sure you have QUESTIONS!
Here are a list of topics that people tend to start with. Please contact us if you have more specific questions.
The first thing that we will ask is 'Where do you want to be?" Your audience and positioning have everything to do with the steps we take to get you there.
We can assist your team or step in and take on the entire design initiative to develop the presence you are looking for. Be it a concept to consumer product design, a ground-up development of your brand identity, cross-country campaign, packaging, merchandising, billboard, corporate event, tradeshow booth or the entire show, we will be with you every step of the way.
Depending on the initiative and scope of task, project cycles can run from a single day to project completion; end to end consumer products being the longest. 3rd party scheduling and production deadlines are also a key factor in placement as production houses, media buying (digital, print, billboard), facility and hall locations can be booked months to years out. For events and product design, there are most often regulatory approvals that must be factored in as well, so these are all considerations and commitments beyond CARBON's control, though we do plan and design based on our experiences to produce the most timely and fluid integration. Projects that take more than a few days are generally at the mercy of outside approvals, and therefore extend duration.
The following is a soft 'turn-around' guideline to our service level commitment.
Production art / design - Single to several days
3D modeling / renderings - Single to several days
Magazine / digital campaign - Several days to weeks
Billboard - Several days to weeks
Brand identity - Weeks to months
Corporate event / Tradeshow / Exhibit - Weeks to months
Concept to consumer product design - Months to year
As with the anticipated timeframe, the initiative and scope of the project will have a direct impact on the overall investment. We currently operate on an hourly flat rate which can be factored with the 'turn-around' guideline found under the 'anticipated timeframe' tab to form a rough idea on your investment with us. However, 3rd party scheduling and production deadlines are also a key factor in cost, as production houses, media buying, facility and hall locations all come at better rates the further out you plan. Read here... Let's NOT get close to deadlines and decide to take the leap. Last minute decisions can really blow up a budget to the tune of 200-300%!
Knowing what you want to achieve will give us the road map to how we will get there. This generally begins with a conference between Project managers, Account executives, designers, etc... We will want to discuss the project category, target dates, project outlet, desired expectations on deliverables, budgets, logistics, and quantifiable metrics for results. From there we look forward to receiving or creating your corporate art or style guide, do our competitive market assessment for placement and design, then get to work!
The following is a 'getting started' guideline
Conference (Project stakeholders)
Project category (Design, media, identity, event, product, etc...)
Target dates (Event, production deadlines, approvals, etc...)
Outlet (Media format, location, fabrication, product, etc...)
Expectations on deliverables (Our service level)
Budgets (Design, production, outlet, shipping, install, etc...)
Logistics (Approvals, vendors, work orders, shipping, etc...)
Metrics (Measures of success for design and implementation)
Corporate art / style guide
We will submit our concept proofs, 3d renderings or CAD drawings and plans to stakeholders for approvals. Once gained, we will enter into the file preparation phase for production of the appropriate project categories and outlets (This can include graphics files, structural and fabrication drawings, floorplans, etc..). From here files will be transferred to their determined 3rd party production facilities. Most often the client or end recipient will take logistic control over from here, providing second round approvals on produced goods and organizing the final destination shipping, but we can seamlessly cover these tasks for you as well. As needed we will reunite at the final destination for project install to be sure that everything comes together as planned for final approval.
We do not work exclusively for any individual, company, facility or vendor and therefore accept work from all interested parties. We never disclose project design or proprietary client information without consent to any party including those immediately relevant to our clients project. We will always put our best design efforts forward to meet your needs and fit within your budget without bias to another client. We will happily sign a non-disclosure, but due to the highly overlapping nature of our business, we can not sign a non-compete to the effect of not designing for a like product, business or industry.
